A little bit about...

The art of sewing began over 20,000 years ago, probably first thought of by a dutiful wife who was thoroughly fed up with her husband’s clothes getting ripped to shreds every time he tried to invite a Sabre tooth tiger home for dinner. It is thanks to her that we now have the invention of the first needle, which had been made using the bones or horns of animals (commonly known as ‘Lunch’ or ‘Dinner’) and along with the needles of course came thread, made from the sinews of animals (oh yuck!!).
As time went by things improved greatly for both needle and thread with the very first ‘workable‘ mechanical sewing machine being finally invented in 1790 by Thomas Saint (my hero!!) and therefore we can now speedily whizz through time to the present day where ‘Electronic‘ sewing machines have improved beyond all recognition.
These 21st century machines now have the power to be driven so fast by their operators that they can sound like angry Bees. The art of sewing today has become so sophisticated with the aid of computerised intelligence, giving the operator the choice of an endless array of decorative stitches and gizmos. It is almost certain that it would have made the first inventor faint with sheer delight (no more thread made from animal sinews; Hurray!!).
Now along with my very own trusty angry Bee sounding sewing machine and a choice of colourful threads, most of my time is spent creating and developing new ideas which has allowed me to continue extending the Simply me! range. Whilst sewing has been in my life for many years it is only now that I have decided to venture forth with my very own business, enabling me to produce items for the home and personal gifts. Simply me! brings you a wide selection of products to choose from with something for everyone, each with that special added ‘smile factor‘.
